Current Projects:

Ferenc Nemeth Band
In 2005 I finally recorded my first CD, where I featured my compositions and arrangements for a sextet. The instrumentation and the band is very particular. I had two saxophones, Chris Cheek and Mark Turner, on guitar Lionel Loueke, on piano Aaron Parks and on bass John Patitucci. I have been playing with these guys on and off for the last few years and I decided to record with them. After the CD comes out I am planning to do some tours as well!

GilFeMa
This is definitely one of my favorite trio! I have been working with Lionel and Massimo over 7years. GilFeMa (GILles, FErenc, MAssimo) is a collaborative Trio, where all of us writes music and we all share the same kind of musical vision. We started to work on ideas seriously while at the Monk Inst. in LA. After finishing the school we all moved to New York and started to work with other people as well as continued working with the trio. In 2004, I introduced the trio to Michele Locatelli at ObliqSound and we made our first self titled recording for this label. A second one is on its way...

Javier Vercher - Ferenc Nemeth Duo
Javier and I started to play duets in 2003, when I moved to New York. Although we knew each other from Berklee, we did not really have a chance to explore our common musical territory. From the moment we started to play together, the connection between us was obvious. Since we live in the same neighborhood, we had and have the opportunity to get together whenever we feel like. That gives us the chance to work out some stuff on the spot and work on some material while we are still in progress. Its a very unique way of working together and I feel very lucky to play with him!

Projects from the Past :

Thelonious Monk Institute Jazz Band
This was my main project from 2001-2003. As you can see we have quite a lot of things to do. I am really happy to be in the Institute, and work with such great musicians. The members are:

Nick Vagenas . trombone
Dayna Stephens . saxophone
Gretchen Parlato . voice
Cho Yoon-Seung . piano
Lionel Loueke . guitar
Massimo Biolcati . bass
Ferenc Nemeth . drums

Billy Childs Trio
I just started to work with the incredible Billy Childs a couple of months ago! Beside the Monk Institute this project is my most important work at the moment. Billy used to work as a leader or a sideman with many jazz greats such as: Branford Marsalis, Dianne Reeves, Dave Holland, Jack DeJohnette, Terrance Blanchard, Grover Washington, Bobby Hutcherson, Benny Golson, Art Farmer, George Coleman, Carman Lundy, and many others. (For more information check out his web-site at www.billychilds.com) He is an amazing piano player, composer, arranger and a really great person! I am very blessed to play with him! We know each other since we met at the Henry Mancini Institute two years ago. We've been working with Carlos Puerto (ac. bass) and sometimes with Jimmy Johnson on electric bass. Both of them is really great! Check out my Itinerary for upcoming gigs!

Francesco Guaiana Trio
This trio was founded in 1999. Since then we have been working together a lot. We had quite a few gigs around Boston and we also had a tour in Italy, in January 2001. Our first CD was recorded last summer and should be out in the stores in a couple weeks!!! The music is all original compositions. The influences are coming from our different cultural background as well as from jazz, classical and world music. This two incredible musician (from Sicily, Italy) inspires me very much with their music and their attitude towards music.

Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee Quartet
I've been working with Emmanuel since I moved to Boston. We both studied at Berklee and played lots of gigs together. In May 2001 we recorded a CD under his name. Then I moved to LA but we still kept in touch. He is originally from San Francisco and he just moved back a couple of months ago. He is a great bass player who I am happy to work with. The piano player is another amazing musician from S.F. and on sax is one of my favorite musicians.
